Texas Football: Texas OL to Miss Time With a Knee Injury

Redshirt freshman Junior Angilau week to week after suffering an MCL injury against Kansas State

Texas football got some bad news on the injury front with right guard Junior Angilau expected to miss at least one week.

Angilau suffered the injury in the first half of Texas' 27-24 victory over Kansas State.

The redshirt freshman from Salt Lake City, Utah has started every game so far this season for the Longhorns.

The 6-foot-6, 300-pound Angilau was the No. 10 offensive tackle and No. 2 overall player from the state of Utah in 2018 according to 247 Sports.

Angilau has been classified as "week to week" according to Texas head coach Tom Herman. The Nov. 23 game against Baylor seems to be the best-case scenario, according to Herman's comments during his Monday press conference.

Junior Derek Kerstetter moved from right tackle to right guard when Angilau went down.  Junior Denzel Okafor slid into Kerstetter's spot.

The Longhorns sit at 6-3, alone in third place in the Big 12 standings likely needed three more wins to be in contention for a spot in the conference championship game.

They go on the road this week to face 5-4 Iowa State. The Cyclones are fresh off a near-upset of No. 9 Oklahoma in which they came back from a 35-14 halftime deficit to make the score 42-41 with under 30 seconds left in regulation.

The Cyclones elected to go for a two-point conversion and missed, but are still riding a ton of momentum - particularly on defense where they held the high-powered Sooner offense to just seven points in the second half.

The two teams kick off in Ames at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
