Is Longhorns Star Ja'Tavion Sanders College Football's Best TE?

According to Pro Football Focus, Longhorns star tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders is one of the nation's top talents at the position

Texas Longhorns tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders exploded onto the college football scene this past season, becoming one of, if not the most reliable pass catcher for quarterback Quinn Ewers.

And now, he is finally getting recognition, ranking as Pro Football Focus' No. 3 returning tight ends for 2023.

Said PFF of Sanders:

Sanders joined Texas with a ton of hype as a top-15 recruit in the 2021 class.

He began to live up to that billing in his sophomore season, catching 32 combined first downs and touchdowns in 2022, which trailed only Dalton Kincaid, Michael Mayer and Brock Bowers among FBS tight ends. His 613 receiving yards also trailed only Bowers among returning Power Five tight ends. He’s a freak athlete at 6-foot-4 and 242 pounds, and he is the early favorite to be TE2 in the 2024 draft behind Bowers.

Sanders came in behind Georgia's Brock Bowers at No. 1 and Minnesota's Brevyn Spann-Ford at No. 2.

PFF's ranking for Sanders also rates him as the No. 1 returning tight end in the Big 12.

A five-star recruit from the 2021 class, Sanders saw his first action this past season, but immediately emerged as one of the Longhorns' best offensive players, finishing second on the team with 54 catches, third on the team in yards with 613, and second in receiving touchdowns with five.
