Red Raider WR propelled by breakout, 1,400-yard receiving season.

Red Raider fans experienced another one of those bittersweet moments on Monday as wide receiver Antoine Wesley declared for the NFL Draft.

In the last two years, Texas Tech has had to accept the departures of Patrick Mahomes, Keke Coutee and now Wesley.

The idea of Wesley declaring for the draft wasn’t even on the radar before this season. But then Wesley blew up with 88 catches for 1,410 yards and 9 touchdowns. Not only that, he displayed fantastic after-the-catch ability and made spectacular grabs when going up against DBs for 50-50 balls.

Red Raider fans will miss those plays.

But Wesley is far from a can’t miss at the next level. He has one good season on film, and that might not be enough for Wesley to move up into the first few rounds of the draft. At the moment, he’s not in the top 20 of many WR draft prospect rankings.

That could change through the draft process. Wesley has outstanding measurables and he’s a documented hard worker and an engaging person. He’s the kind of player that NFL teams will love.
