USC has the nation's No. 3-ranked recruiting class but is it in danger of an overbalanced recruiting class?

USC has commitments from five cornerbacks. That is a lot. Maybe the Trojans need them because they failed to sign a corner last year.

Clay Helton seems to like this approach: Last year, the Trojans brought in six offensive linemen with only 13 scholarships.

But there is a danger with signing too many players at one position.

Remember in 2016 when USC signed six wide receivers? Michael Pittman, Tyler Vaughns, Trevon Sidney, Velus Jones, Josh Imatorbhebhe and Keyshawn Young.

Sidney, Jones, Imatorbhebhe and Young transferred out.

USC should probably be looking at signing more tailbacks. Vavae Malepeai and Stephen Carr are seniors. Markese Stepp and Kenan Christon is a sophomore. USC has a commitment from tailback Brandon Campbell of Houston but the Trojans need more than three tailbacks (Stepp, Christon, Campbell) in 2021.

I still believe USC will not bring in all 18 currently committed recruits.

It's great to be ranked No. 3. But when you bring in too many players at one spot, you risk losing some even if they come.
