Big 12 Head Coach Tests Positive for COVID-19

Some unfortunate news to start the week in the Big 12.

Monday afternoon, Texas head basketball coach Shaka Smart announced on Twitter that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

Since defeating West Virginia 72-70 in the final seconds of the game two weeks ago, the Longhorns have played just two games and went 1-1 with a two-point home loss to Texas Tech and a 15-point home win over Kansas State.

Texas is scheduled to play Tuesday at home against No. 24 Oklahoma at 7 p.m. According to Big 12 protocols, both teams must have at least six players available to play in the game. The Big 12 has not announced any postponements for the Longhorns at this time.
