BREAKING: Top In-State Target Commits to WVU, Will Enroll This Year

Make it official. Four-star forward Jalen Bridges (Fairmont) is staying home.

The recruitment of Jalen Bridges has been one of the most discussed topics in the Mountaineer fan base in recent months. Having a consensus top 100 recruit just twenty minutes from Morgantown is not a common occurrence, and Bridges has been seen as a must-have recruit by most of the WVU faithful.

With Bridges making an official visit for the James Madison football game this weekend, Bob Huggins’ staff was able to seal the deal, coming away with a verbal commitment from the four-star forward. Spending time on the sidelines at Milan Puskar Stadium and in the state-of-the-art basketball practice facility clearly impacted the Fairmont native as he committed without visiting any of his other top five schools.

In addition to this outstanding news, Bridges announced that he would be enrolling this season rather than taking an expected prep season at Scotland Campus. With the school year already underway, Bridges is currently ineligible for the upcoming season and will likely enroll for the second semester. However, Kansas forward Silvio de Sousa was able to play after enrolling in January of his freshman season in 2018 after receiving a ruling from the NCAA. There is not much history of these types of rulings but the de Sousa case may set a precedent that will allow Jalen Bridges to compete for WVU once the spring semester begins.
