Decision Date Set for Top In-State Recruit Isaac McKneely

Will the Mountaineers land the top prospect in the state?

Monday evening, class of 2022 guard Isaac McKneely of Poca High School in Poca, WV announced on Twitter that he will be making his decision this Saturday at 2 p.m.

McKneely will be deciding between Kentucky, Illinois, Purdue, Louisville, North Carolina, Indiana, Virginia, and West Virginia.

West Virginia currently has two guards (Kobe Johnson and Seth Wilson) committed in the 2021 class but do not have a single commit in the '22 class at this time. Adding McKneely would be a great start to that recruiting cycle for Bob Huggins and his coaching staff.

McKneely told Mountaineer Maven what it would mean for him to play for Huggins and play for the state's flagship university.

"I definitely respect what he has done at WVU. I mean, he's one of the most winningest coaches in NCAA history, so you have to respect him. He's a great coach and even a better person," he said. "It would mean a lot because it's my home state and they are one of the better teams in the Big 12 and in the country. So yeah, it would be a big deal to me."
