Huggins Will Not Attend Monday's Coaches Caravan in Wheeling

WVU athletic director informs media Huggins will miss tonight's event.

Monday morning, WVU men's head basketball coach Bob Huggins used a homophobic slur when discussing Xavier fans during an interview on Bill Cunningham’s WLW radio show in Cincinnati.

Huggins has since issued an official apology and the university has also released a statement, saying that "the situation is under review."

WVU athletic director Wren Baker was greeted by local media outside of the WVU Coaches Caravan event that is set to take place tonight in Wheeling. Baker told reporters that he "briefly" spoke with Huggins and that he would not be attending tonight's event.

"We've put out the statement earlier tonight. You saw coach's statement. We really don't have anything else at this time. I was on my way here, so really hadn't had a chance to even get all the facts and information. As soon as we do, we'll have a follow up.

"He had a conflict and won't be able to attend tonight."
