Predicting Where WVU Will be Ranked in the New AP Top 25
West Virginia enjoyed its return to the floor over the weekend by pummeling Kansas State on the road 69-47. It was the first time in two weeks that the Mountaineers were able to play a game after going on pause due to COVID-19 issues within the program.
So that brings us to our weekly Monday morning question: Where will the Mountaineers be ranked in this week's AP Top 25 Poll?
Yes, West Virginia beat a young and inexperienced Kansas State team on the road and beat them badly. It may not be all that impressive but to have a two-week layoff and to win on the road in the league by over 20 says a lot. Even head coach Bob Huggins said it was the team's biggest win of the year because of all the adversity they had to overcome. They didn't even have their first practice altogether until the day before the game.
Two top ten teams went 0-2 last week (No. 6 Tennesee and No. 9 Kansas) with both having one of those losses come against an unranked team. No. 10 Wisconsin and No. 11 Creighton both lost one game as well and I don't see either of them remaining or jumping into the top ten. So with all these teams sliding down, it gives a path for West Virginia to re-enter the top ten at No. 10.
Here's my prediction for this week's rankings:
Ceiling: 9th
Floor: 12th
Prediction: 10th
