Score Predictions for West Virginia at Kansas State

The Mountaineer Maven staff makes their picks for today's game.

The No. 14 West Virginia Mountaineers travel to Manhattan, KS to take on the Kansas State Wildcats at 4:00 pm EST on ESPN2. West Virginia is 11-8 all-time versus Kansas State, including dropping three out of the last four and losing the last two meetings inside Bramlage Coliseum.

WVU head coach Bob Huggins called Kansas State one of the best young teams in the Big 12 Conference. Sure, their record doesn't reflect it but when you play Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas, and Oklahoma early in league play it can be quite the challenge.

Both Derek Culver and Sean McNeil were banged up prior to the two-week pause but now it might be the team's conditioning that could be the biggest issue.

With so much time in between games, I like the Wildcats to keep things close but I've got West Virginia pulling out the win in the final minutes of play.

Christopher Hall: West Virginia 61 Kansas State 56

There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the No. 14 West Virginia Mountaineers following a two-week pause due to the Big 12 Conference protocols.

On Thursday, West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins was unclear on who would be available against the Wildcats Saturday afternoon, and after the long layover, nobody knows how this Mountaineer team will respond.

Kansas State is mending injuries and dealing with COVID-19 and should have a full roster outside of starting point guard Nijel Pack but still may take a game or two before getting back to full strength. Additionally, this young squad is still trying to find their way, and the inability to practice has slowed their development.

Even though there are uncertainties on which Mountaineers will be available, I believe they find a way to win in the latter stages of the game. West Virginia pulls out the win 61-56.
