Spread & Over/Under Predictions for WVU vs Texas Tech

West Virginia viewed as small favorites for tonight's matchup with the Red Raiders.

Each game day, we will release an article on our thoughts on the spread and the over/under of West Virginia games. The star ratings next to the play describe the overall confidence in that particular play.

Star ratings:

1 Star - Not very confident

2 Star - A little confident

3 Star - Fairly confident

4 Star - Very confident

5 Star - Should be a lock to happen

Spread: West Virginia -1.5

1-star play on West Virginia covering: The Mountaineers didn't seem to have any trouble with Kansas State on Saturday but head coach Bob Huggins said that some guys weren't fully up to speed conditioning-wise. Playing two games in three days after a two-week layoff doesn't bode well for West Virginia especially when you have to fly back home to play a team like Texas Tech. Fortunately for the Mountaineers, Texas Tech will be playing their first game in nine days as they had two games postponed last week. West Virginia essentially just has to win the game to cover, so I'll back them in this spot considering they have played more recently than Texas Tech.

Over/Under: 136.5

2-star play on the under: I'm beginning to think you should be the opposite of my take on the totals. I have been ice cold but I'll still give it to you anyway. I like the under tonight. Texas Tech allows only 59.9 points per game and is considered one of the best defensive teams in the country. Although West Virginia hasn't proved it on a consistent basis this season, we know they can defend as well. This is the same team that ranked in the top 15 in defensive efficiency a year ago, so they definitely have it in them. I expect this one to be a rather low-scoring, ugly type of basketball game. So with that said, each team will likely hit 100 points themselves. All kidding aside, I'll ride with the under.
