In-State Play Maker Opens up About WVU Offer

After the University High and St. Albans game, I was able to catch up with West Virginia target Amir Richardson. The 6-foot-2 and 200-pound 2019 recruit plays on both sides of the ball. Amir lines up on the outside as a receiver and protects the back end on the defense as a ball-hawking safety.

While speaking with him after the game, it is clear that a West Virginia offer means a lot to him. Amir smiled real big and said, "It means a lot to me," when asked about his new offer. "My home state team was the first to offer me and it has been my dream to play in Morgantown”

Currently, Richardson claims two offers from West Virginia and Marshall.

With Richardson being a junior, the offers will continue to roll in for this playmaker. He currently does not have a decision date set but wasn't shy about sharing his feelings about being a Mountaineer.

“WVU is number one on my radar and would take a lot to change that.”

He is being recruited by Tony Gibson and he is likely to play safety at the next level. Watching him play, he reminds you of former Mountaineers Robert Sands and Eric Wicks. His large frame and speed make him an excellent cover man.

With his talent, Richardson could be a steal for the Mountaineers.
