Gambler's Corner: Week Eleven

All good things must come to an end.

After picking three winning picks two weeks ago, last week brought with it our first lost series of the season.

We're still comfortably in the black, however, sporting a 14-7 record on the year.

Last Week's Results:

  • Alabama at LSU (over 54) - Loss
  • Louisville at Clemson (over 61) - Win
  • Ohio State (-18.5) versus Nebraska - Loss

Hot Picks of Week Eleven

West Virginia versus TCU (over 56)

To put it lightly, the Horned Frogs have fallen off the wagon this season after making it to the Big 12 Championship Game a year ago. TCU is 2-4 in its last seven games, including an embarrassing loss to Kansas back in October. And despite Dana Holgorsen claiming the Frogs will be the best defense the Mountaineers have faced this season, TCU is allowing an average of 144 rushing yards per contest. West Virginia should have success on the ground on Saturday, opening up the passing lanes for Will Grier and his entourage. It would be silly to expect the Mountaineers to turn in a similar performance to what we saw last week but its even more difficult to imagine West Virginia falling back to what happened at Iowa State.

Navy (+25) at UCF

This one is pretty simple. Central Florida has obtained its NCAA-best 21-game winning streak by feasting on weak competition. Navy certainly won't buck that trend but its option offense will prove troublesome to a Golden Knights team that allows 188 yards rushing per game. Last week against Temple, UCF's defense looked mediocre at best after the Owls tallied 670 yards (444 passing, 226 rushing) of offense and 40 points. This one will be closer than what Vegas predicts and probably a high-scoring affair. Take a look at the over (64 points) while you're at it.

Texas at Texas Tech (over 62)

The over could be 77 and I'd still advise you to take it. Both of these teams can score at will, averaging over 74 points combined per game. Texas Tech also boasts the worst defense in the league and might be without its best defender in Dakota Allen. This has all the makings of yet another high-scoring Big 12 game. Cash in while you can.
