Marcus Simms: Consistency is Key

West Virginia has been known to have one of the best receiving corps in the Big XII every season under head coach Dana Holgorsen and this season proves no different. From the speedy Marcus Simms to the 3rd down reliable Gary Jennings to Grier’s favorite target in David Sills and veteran Ka'Raun White.

Let’s take a look at the stats.

Gary Jennings: 29 Rec, 438 Yds, 1 TD

Marcus Simms: 9 Rec, 211 Yds, 3 TD

David Sills: 26 Rec, 396 Yds, 7 TD

Ka'Raun White: 17 Rec, 209 Yds, 2 TD.

With everyone contributing, the real question becomes who is the biggest threat? Well, in my opinion it's Marcus Simms. Simm's speed on the outside, especially on the deep routes, makes him a nightmare for defenders. Simms and Grier have already connected for 2 50+ yard touchdowns. Simms, who is also returning kick offs, is the best deep ball threat on this team.

But can he be consistent?

The toughest part of the Mountaineer schedule starts next Saturday against No.9 Texas Christian. If West Virginia is set to knock off a top-ten opponent, it will need Simms’ best efforts to do so.
