Neal Brown Comments on Jahmile Addae's Departure

West Virginia begins search for its next defensive backs coach.

Wednesday morning, the University of Georgia officially announced the hiring of West Virginia's corners coach/co-defensive coordinator Jahmile Addae.

Addae came to West Virginia in 2019 to serve as the cornerbacks coach. In 2020, following the departure of Vic Koenning, Addae was named co-defensive coordinator alongside defensive line coach Jordan Lesley.

During the 2020 season, Addae helped lead the Mountaineers in becoming the No. 1 passing defense in the country, allowing only 159.4 passing yards per game. Nicktroy Fortune and Dreshun Miller started at cornerback for West Virginia and had only combined for two career starts coming into the year. He did an excellent job of developing the guys in the back end and also played a big part in sophomore SPEAR Tykee Smith's success.

West Virginia head coach Neal Brown took to Twitter to thank Addae for his time in the program.

"I want to thank Jahmile Addae for his many contributions to WVU Football as a player and a coach. We wish him the best! Our search has already begun as we seek a coach to work with one of the top returning secondaries in the country!"
