West Virginia offensive line coach Matt Moore extended an offer to class of 2021 defensive tackle Anquin Barnes out of Robert E. Lee High in Montgomery, Alabama. Upon receiving the offer from the Mountaineers, Barnes said he was “excited when he received the offer.”

Anquin currently holds offers from Tennessee-Chattanooga, Florida Atlantic Toledo, Auburn and Alabama along with a host of other SEC schools that have him on his radar.

At 6-5, 300-lbs, Barnes is a big presence along the defensive front. The powerhouse tends to clog up the middle of the line of scrimmage by standing offensive linemen up and pushing them back before shedding the block to bring down the ball carrier. Anquin cited that shedding blocks and taking good angles in the backfield is something he still wants to work on.

The West Virginia defensive line has impressed under first year coach Jordan Lesley. There’s been an uptick in recruiting along the front and players like Darius and Dante Stills have made huge impact plays. Reese Donahue is a guy that also sticks out according to Barnes.

Overall, Barnes says West Virginia is a “fantastic program” and that a visit is in the works.
