Cowboys Golf Team Enjoys Fall Season With Top 5 finishes in 4 of 6 Tournaments

The Wyoming Cowboy Golf Team concluded an exciting fall season by placing among the top five teams in four of its six fall tournaments this season, The Pokes finished in second-place out of 17 teams at the Ram Masters Invitational, third out of 12 teams at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational, third out of nine teams at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate and fifth out of 18 teams at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational.
Wyoming Shoots Under Par as a Team in Four of Six Fall Events
As a team, the Wyoming Cowboys shot under par in four of six fall tournaments. The Pokes’ lowest tournament score during the fall was an 844 (-20) at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational to finish 3rd out of 12 teams. UW shot an 846 (-6) at the Ka’anapali Classic in Hawai’i in a field that included eight of the Top 50 ranked teams in the nation. The Cowboys finished 11th of 20 teams at the Ka’anapali Classic. Wyoming fired an 850 (-2) to capture 3rd place out of nine teams at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate in Denver. UW’s fourth under par tournament score came at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational where the Cowboys shot an 863 (-1) to finish 5th out of 18 teams.
In their highest tournament finish of the fall at the Ram Masters Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo., the Cowboys placed 2nd out of 17 teams while shooting an 845 (+5).
An Amazing Run for Kirby
Kirby Coe-Kirkham placed in the Top 20 in five of six fall tournaments in 2019, and placed in the Top 10 in three of those six tournaments.
Coe-Kirkham placed 10th at the prestigious Ka’anapali Classic in November in a field that included eight of the Top 50 ranked teams in the nation (based on Golfstat rankings).
He shot a 204 (-9) at the Ka’anapali to tie for 10th. The other individuals in the Top 10 were all from Top 50 ranked teams (No. 5 Oklahoma, No. 15 Clemson, No. 18 Washington, No. 19 Georgia, No. 23 UCLA, No. 31 South Carolina, No. 37 Liberty and No. 44 Kansas)
Coe-Kirkham also posted finishes of 6th place at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, 7th place at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, 16th place at the Ram Masters Invitational and 20th place at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational in October.
In the months of October and November, Coe-Kirkham shot a combined 17-under par in the three tournaments he played.
Kirby Coe-Kirkham, Dan Starzinski and Carl Underwood Each Post Multiple Top 20 Finishes This Fall
Sophomore Kirby Coe-Kirkham, senior Dan Starzinski and junior Carl Underwood each posted multiple Top 20 finishes during the 2019 fall season. Coe-Kirkham finished in the Top 20 in five of six fall tournaments. Starzinski and Underwood each had three Top 20 finishes in the six fall tournaments they played.
Tyler Severin and Bryce Waters, each had one Top 20 finish this fall season. Severin placed 13th at the Ron Moore, and Waters finished 14th at the Mark Simpson.
Senior Dan Starzinski Invited to Prestigious Patriot All-America Invitational in December
Wyoming senior Dan Starzinski has been invited to participate in the prestigious Patriot All-America Invitational. This 54-hole amateur stroke-play championship, will be held December 27-31, 2019, at The Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona. The event is rated “A” by the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) and No. 47 worldwide by Scratch Players.
