BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The Wyoming golf team battled the elements Sunday in the first day of the Las Vegas Collegiate Tournament on Sunday, and headed into Monday’s Day 2 tied for 14 with a team score of 25 over.

Junior Caitlyn Skavdahl was the low Cowgirl on the day. She shot a season-best 3-over 75, tied for 13 in a field of 96. She was followed by senior Kaylee Knadler who shot a season-best four over 76 which is tied for 18.

“The conditions were very tough today with anywhere from a 2-4 club wind so we really had to grind it out,” head coach Josey Stender said. “I’m so proud of the upperclassmen and their confident, calculated play to lead us.”

Fellow senior Erin Sargent was solid with a six over 78 and will enter Monday in a tie for 42nd. Cristiana Ciasca shot a 12-over 84 followed by fellow sophomore Michelle Nguyen with a 14-over 86.

San Francisco leads the field at eight over 296, followed closely by South Dakota State (+9, 297). Long Beach State and UNLV are tied for third at 13-over 301 while Fresno State rounds out the top five at 18 over 306. Elisa Saska of UNLV is the clubhouse leader with a 3-unver 69 followed by Brigette Thibault at 2-unver 70 of Fresno State.
