Wyoming Tennis Picks up Three Wins on Day Three of ITA Mountain Regional Tournament

LAS VEGAS – The Wyoming tennis squad picked up two victories in singles, and one in doubles competition on day three of the ITA Mountain Regional Tournament hosted by UNLV. 

The doubles team of Oleksandra Balaba and Clara Mansart earned its second consecutive victory at the ITAs, pulling out an 8-7 win over Weber State’s Morett and Kuo.

Ana Fernandez won in her consolation singles match against Ksenia Shikanova of Nevada, winning a thriller, 4-6, 6-2 and 1-0 (10-8). Balaba also had a tiebreak victory in her match, defeating Daniela Cozzi of Southern Utah, 6-3, 4-6 and 1-0 (10-4).

Ana Royo was on the wrong end of her tiebreak, losing to Hsiang-Wen Huang of New Mexico, losing 6-4, 3-6 and 0-1 (6-10). Zarah Mughal also lost her singles match, 6-2 and 6-0 to BYU’s Emma Jewell.

Wyoming continues their trip at the regional Saturday in the next-to-last day of the tournament.
