Apparently it’s been 10 years since LMFAO dropped electro-party track Party Rock Anthem on the musical universe.

This realization–which made minor waves on social–jogged something in the memory bank. Didn’t this group/band/duo/whatever-they-were make a curling-themed video for one of their songs?

An extremely colourful, bizarre and nonsensical video?

Why ... yes.

“Yes” was the fourth single from LMFAO’s first album, Party Rock. It was released in the fall of 2007 but returned to life as a promotional CD release in 2010.

That release was accompanied by a new music video, directed by Mickey Finnegan and released on July 23, 2010.

The finished product is part music video, part short film and clocks in at over 10 minutes. It’s also, well, completely bonkers.

Our heroes Redfoo, SkyBlu, the ShuffleBot and Q compete in the 2010 Broom Cup final against opponents Cobra McGavin, who are coached by a sinister older fellow who stares a lot.

An injury to one of the LMFAOers–caused by them cheatin’ McGavins–looks to be disastrous but up steps the arena janitor, played by Hollywood A-lister Jamie Foxx.

Guess who wins?

Props go to whomever supplied the curling equipment; we can see fairly clean brush heads as opposed to the ancient filthy ones you might expect from a curling-ignorant film crew. Props also go to the propmaster who tricked out various brush and stone handles.

The shoot took place a hockey-style arena and not a dedicated curling facility, as this behind-the-scenes mini-doc shows.

Eleven years later, it’s good and oft-forgotten silly fun.
