French rider Mondory suspended after positive test for EPO
AIGLE, Switzerland (AP) French cyclist Lloyd Mondory has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for EPO.
The International Cycling Union says Mondory tested positive for the banned blood-boosting hormone in an out-of-competition sample taken on Feb. 17.
The 32-year rider faces a disciplinary hearing, possibly heard by the governing body's new anti-doping tribunal.
The UCI says Mondory ''has the right to request and attend the analysis of the `B' sample.''
Mondory has no major race wins in his 11-year career with the Ag2r-La Mondiale team.
Mondory's case was announced on Tuesday, one day after UCI President Brian Cookson acknowledged ''lower-level doping'' was still endemic in the sport.
