Daudet, Pajon win BMX time trial world championships

HEUSDEN-ZOLDER, Belgium (AP) Joris Daudet of France won his second BMX world championship and Olympic gold medalist Mariana Pajon of Colombia captured her fourth during the time trial races Friday.

Daudet, the 2011 champion, covered the course in 30.953 seconds to edge Niek Kimmann of the Netherlands by 0.076 seconds. Conor Fields of the United States earned the bronze.

Pajon dominated the women's race, beating American standout Alise Post by nearly half a second to earn gold. Sarah Walker of New Zealand won the bronze.

The BMX world championship conclude Saturday with the men's and women's elite races. Sam Willoughby of Australia and Laura Smulders of the Netherlands are defending champions, and both finished just off the podium in fourth place in Friday's time trials.
