It wasn't flashy, but signing Ghosty made OpTic elite.

As mentioned in this week's Call of Duty League Power Rankings, OpTic Texas signing Daniel "Ghosty" Rothe should go down as the best roster move of the 2023 Call of Duty League season.

Drew Pescaro on Twitter brings up that OpTic is 11-4 in their 15 matches since making the roster move. Coming off a 2nd place finish in Major 3, which was Ghosty's first LAN event in the CDL, his impact on one of the biggest franchises is unmatched.

Throughout Major 3, Ghosty was incredibly consistent, posting an overall 0.98 K/D. But it's not the stats we can look at that will tell the story - it's the intangibles that numbers can't add up to. His CoD IQ and map awareness are what make him great. His ability to get his teammates in proper spots and let his teammates play off of him is a massive reason why OpTic should be considered the best team in the Call of Duty League right now.

Many teams throughout the CDL have been looking at Challengers players or Free Agents to step in to be that superstar slayer. OpTic already had three players that have elite abilities. Having that smart, dirty-work player that Ghosty is, Cuyler "Huke" Garland can now go rogue and slay around the map. Anthony "Shotzzy" Cuevas-Castro can slay as the best SMG in the CDL. And Brandon "Dashy" Otell can hold angles with the AR and be the straightest shooter in the game.

At just 20 years old (he will be 21 on April 24), Ghosty has quickly grown as a leader. In an interview with Optic's Owner, H3CZ, they discuss what it was like for Ghosty growing up and how he had to mature quickly at such a young age. That maturity and intelligence has translated to his role on OpTic and is the driving force behind their success.

At minute 5:45 of the interview, Ghosty goes into full detail about his time going up and everything he had to go through.

OpTic sits atop the Stage 4 Qualifier Standings and is in a tremendous spot to hold onto that heading into the Major. They square off against the Los Angeles Guerrillas Friday, April 14, and Boston Breach Saturday, April 15. With the way OpTic is playing and the role Ghosty has thrived in, stopping OpTic looks to be an improbable task.
