Cowboys' punter hits scoreboard with punt, Bengals return re-kick for touchdown

Sunday August 25th, 2013

When Jerry World opened, there was wailing and gnashing of teeth over the potential of a punt hitting the scoreboard. After the Titans' A.J. Trepasso hit the the world's biggest electronic phallic stand-in, there was concern this would be a constant problem.

Like most things in the preseason, it didn't really matter and punters haven't had a problem with the behemoth video board since then.

That is, until Saturday night when the Cowboys' own punter, Chris Jones, hit it. By rule, it's a dead ball and necessitates a re-kick. In glorious Cowboys fashion, the re-kick resulted in a 75-yard punt return for a touchdown by Bengals' receiver Brandon Tate. Everything is bigger in Texas... even especially the screw-ups.
