Fan Takes Out Ad in the Paper Apologizing to the Edmonton Oilers

Monday March 31st, 2014

San Jose Sharks v Edmonton Oilers

Oilers fans, frustrated with their team's decade-long rebuilding process, have taken to throwing jerseys on the ice this season. New goalie Ben Scrivens even threw one back at one point. Well, believe it or not, someone sympathetic to Scrivens and the team actually paid to put an apology letter in the Edmonton Journal on behalf of the fans.

Yes, a fan is apologizing to one of the most miserable franchises in pro sports, not the other way around. I can't tell if this is the apex of Canadian politeness or a new low of smarmy "true fan" behavior.
