The unveiling of the new U.S. men’s national team away jerseys was met with mixed reactions from fans and media.

Okay, maybe that's not completely true; Almost everyone's first-blush response was something along the lines of, 'Ew.' While their aesthetic merits are debatable, at least one thing seems obvious about the new threads: they look like the firecracker pops you enjoyed throughout your childhood.

Less than an hour before the USMNT debuted the new red, white and blue gear for a friendly against Mexico on Wednesday night, 31-year-old forward Herculez Gomez, apparently cognizant of their resemblance to the popular frozen treats, presented a strong visual case for why everyone should love the new kits.
