KC radio station responds to San Francisco station's ban on "Royals"

Monday October 20th, 2014

Lorde, the singer from New Zealand, has been the No. 1 star of this year's MLB playoffs, thanks to her song "Royals," which she says was inspired by a photo of George Brett

With the Giants set to face the Royals in the World Series, a radio station in San Francisco decided not to play the song throughout the series. So the natural reaction from Kansas City was to correct this Lorde imbalance by playing "Royals" every hour, on the hour, for 12 hours on Tuesday.

Both stations are owned by radio conglomerate Entercom Communications, so this is definitely not a publicity stunt to get people talking about their stations.
