Notre Dame's Brian Kelly had a great response when asked about Florida

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly was asked about the Florida head coach opening and had a great response.

With college football coaches already beginning to be fired and many more on the hot seat, it's officially the season where coaching rumors run wild. And with Will Muschamp's recent firing, the Florida position has been of particular interest -- just ask Eagles coach Chip Kelly

When the rumor mill ran into Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly, though, he was ready.

In his fifth year at Notre Dame, Kelly was asked about Florida on Thursday and had a bit of fun.

"I’m going to Florida—in about two weeks to get some sun," Kelly said with a smile, according to WNDU.com. "I’m getting out of here with this weather—are you kidding me? So you can write that down. I’m going to Florida. Write it down now, get it out there, get it on the news waves."

But Kelly didn't get off that easy. Lou Somogyi of Blue and Gold Illustrated tried a more direct follow-up.

"Any thought on being listed as an odds-on favorite?" Somogyi asked.

"For what?" said Kelly.

"For the Florida position," Somogyi clarified.

"Oh, yeah. I’ve been interested in the Florida job—what else am I up for?" Kelly said in a sarcastic tone. “Anything else? Can I be up for the Notre Dame job because we are 7-3 right now? I’m hoping to hold onto this job."

Kelly almost certainly won't be the last head coach to be asked about another position this season, but odds are his will end up being one of the most entertaining answers.
