Mets GM Sandy Alderson sat on a jury, made a great shortstop joke

Tuesday February 24th, 2015

New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson was asked to sit on a jury earlier this month, and even stranger, his wife was called to sit on the same jury.

The Wall Street Journal talked with Alderson about his experience in the jurors' box and even unearthed a pretty great quip that the GM dropped while being questioned before selection.

Question: What do you do in your free time?

Alderson: Well, now I’m looking for a shortstop.

Alderson, who stressed that the shortstop line was just a joke, said he was surprised to be chosen along with his wife, Linda, but that he was happy to do his civic duty, telling The Journal it was an "interesting experience."
