Mats Zuccarello says goodbye to fellow hobbit Martin St. Louis

Martin St. Louis announced he would not be returning to the NHL for a 17th season on Thursday, which means he is leaving behind his Rangers teammates, and in particular his fellow small man, Mats Zuccarello.

Martin St. Louis announced he would not be returning to the NHL for a 17th season on Thursday, which means he is leaving behind his Rangers teammates, and in particular his fellow small man, Mats Zuccarello.

The 5' 7" Zuccarello is known as the Hobbit by Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist, and the right wing said goodbye to the 5'8" St. Louis with a hilarious Instagram post picturing the two as characters from J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth.

In the post the pair as seen as Samwise Gamgee and Frodo Baggins from The Lord of the Rings trilogy, with Zuccarello saying that he will have to seek the ring without St. Louis from now on.

​St. Louis has not mentioned if his retirement plans include a trip the Undying Lands.
