Battle for DeAndre Jordan being fought with emojis
When word came out that DeAndre Jordan was reconsidering his verbal commitment to the Mavericks for a return to the Clippers on Tuesday, the basketball internet was quickly set ablaze, as the two teams scrambled to make their cases.
First came a flurry of Photoshops, followed by Chandler Parsons, who was integral in courting the center to Dallas, tweeting a plane emoji, indicating he was headed to Jordan's home in Houston to remind him of why he wanted to stay with the team.
Not to be outdone, J.J. Redick, who has voiced his displeasure with the Clippers failure to keep Jordan, tweeted a single car emoji, indicating he was driving from his home in Austin to visit his former and possibly future teammate.
Not wanting to be left out of the fun, Blake Griffin tweeted from Hawaii that he would be using several modes of emoji transport to get to the meeting.
Then Chris Paul beat everyone with a callback to his banana boat adventures with some fellow NBA superstars the day before.
Now that there was a full blown emoji craze surrounding the situation, DC United jumped into the fray to see if Jordan was maybe interested in switching sports all together.
Marreese Speights and assistant general manager Kirk Lacob of the Warriors eschewed the transportation theme altogether to see if Jordan may want to get some trophies
Paul Pierce, Corey Maggette, Mike Woodson and the Cleveland Indians also jumped on the bandwagon.
