David Beckham changed the lives of a family of Californians on Tuesday night when he showed up at their door with iPhones and a check for $100,000.

The philanthropic act was part of FOX's new show Knock Knock Live, which features celebrities surprising everyday people at their homes with concerts, gifts or the opportunity to win prizes.

In Beckham's case, he decided to help a family that reminded him of his own upbringing, with a father who gave up a soccer career in Mexico to take a construction job that often keeps him away from his family.
