Washington Nationals latest team to create their own emojis

The Washington Nationals are introducing 10 of their own emojis, with more to come.

Because teams are desperate to be cool, the Washington Nationals are now the latest professional sports franchise to introduce their own emojis, per The Washington Post's Dan Steinberg.

The Nationals join the NFL's Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars and the NBA's Atlanta Hawks as teams trying to connect with fans using emojis.

Washington's emojis will be released through the team's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat pages, and will include images such as racing Teddy Roosevelt and All-Stars Bryce Harper and Matt Scherzer.

Eventually, the Nationals will make the emojis available for download, and plan on creating more emojis based on memorable moments from the rest of the season.

Washington currently leads the NL East by one game over the New York Mets, whose fans complain about the team in their own, non-traditional way.
