Watch: Hurling player gets standing ovation in return from cancer

Tuesday August 18th, 2015

Irish hurling player Noel McGrath was diagnosed with testicular cancer just four months ago but made his return to the field on Sunday and received a standing ovation from the packed house at Croke Park.

McGrath’s Tipperary team was facing Galway for the right to advance to All-Ireland final, the national championship. When McGrath entered in the 62nd minute of the 70-minute match, fans of both teams rose to their feet to greet him.

With just minutes to play, McGrath scored a point to put Tipperary ahead, but Galway added two more in the final moments and won the game.
