As it turns out, American Pharoah is a pretty good sport.

On Monday, Serena Williams was named Sports Illustrated’s 2015 Sportsperson of the Year, earning the distinction after winning 53 of 56 matches this year and narrowly missing the fourth Grand Slam title she needed to complete a calendar year “Serena Slam.”

Even though her calendar year was one of the most dominant we’ve seen this decade, people were still mad online that horse American Pharoah didn’t get the nod.

Well, as it turns out, Pharoah is a pretty good sport! He released the following message in his deepest horse voice, and did not appear to feel some type of neigh about Williams beating him for the honor.

Just one question, though—why the long face?
