The Georgetown and Butler mascots have joined forces to enter the presidential race on the “Canine Party” ticket.

Georgetown Jack and Butler Blue III, both Bulldogs, made their announcement in a campaign video ahead of Saturday’s men’s basketball matchup between their respective universities.

According to the video, the “perfect pairing of pups” will set their on-court differences aside and come together for America’s sake.

“A species known for thousands of years by their loyalty, compassion, obedience and unconditional love,” the video says. “It’s time to elect America’s best hope, man’s best friend.”

Update: We've been alerted to the fact that Georgetown Jack and Butler Blue III aren't the only bulldogs running for president. Meet Griff, Drake University's live mascot, who announced a run for the nation's highest office on Nov. 14, coinciding with the Democratic debate on Drake's campus.

The canine primary field is crowded and competitive.
