HBO brought good news to the television-watching world on Tuesday when it was announced that Curb Your Enthusiasm would be returning for a ninth season of cringe-inducing social interactions.

As Larry David unleashes his lovable brand of misanthropy on the world one more time, he might have a run-in with Joe Maddon, thanks to his co-star, Cubs fan Jeff Garlin.

According to CSN Chicago, Garlin met Maddon during the show’s five-year hiatus and promised the Chicago manager a role if the show returned.

“His people have not reached out to my people yet,” Maddon said before Tuesday’s game at Nationals Park. “I have not been contacted yet. I haven’t seen Jeff in a while, so we haven’t communicated. We’re all happy that it’s coming back, man. It’s still the best. It’s absolutely the best.

“If (Jeff) said he’s going to make it happen, we’ll make it happen.”

Maddon also joked with reporters that his dream is to appear on the show not as himself, but as Larry David, or even as former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, who the Curb star memorably portrayed on Saturday Night Live this season.
