Addison Russell hit a trash home run. Literally.
Addison Russell hit a trash home run on Sunday. Literally.
As the Cubs trailed the Rockies 10–0 at Coors Field, their second baseman took Jorge de la Rosa deep to left to get Chicago on the board. It was rather ho-hum until the camera zoomed in on where the ball landed: Inside a trash can!
It was fitting, given the way the team had played all afternoon.
The irony of Addi hitting a home run into a trash can in a game we're losing by nine runs is not lost on us.https://t.co/GP2w0r1UlN

Russell was the lone bright spot in the game, homering agian in the seventh inning for the Cubs’ only other run.
