They had to waive a player to become roster compliant after the D'Angelo Russell trade.

Bryn Forbes is a trade casualty to make room for Mike Conley Jr. and Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who were acquired in the trade that sent D'Angelo Russell to the Lakers and Russell Westbrook to the Jazz.

According to Timberwolves insider Jon Krawcyznski, the Wolves are waiving Forbes.

Minnesota had to waive a player before the blockbuster Conley-Russell-Westbrook trade could be finalized because Minnesota was up to 16 players on the active roster and the limit is 15.

The question now is if waiving Forbes means the Wolves are done dealing before the 2 p.m. CT trade deadline. The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski said on KFAN radio in the Twin Cities Thursday morning that Minnesota's "preference" would be to get another deal done for a "player they like."
