Decision day for Major League Baseball teams to tender contracts to players on the roster the Minnesota Twins made a trade before the deadline – sending infielder Gio Urshela to the Los Angels Angels for minor league pitcher Alejandro Hidalgo.

Urshela, who hit .285 with 13 homers and 64 RBI in 144 games with the Twins last season, would've been due approximately $9 million had the Twins tendered him a contract for the 2023 season.

Hidalgo, 19, had a 4.62 ERA with 58 strikeouts and 19 walks in 39 innings at Class A. The right-hander started in all 10 of his appearances.

According MLB Pipeline, Hidalgo was the No. 22 prospect in L.A.'s system. He's now rated the No. 25 prospect for the Twins. He's a 6'1'', 160-pounder who throws in the low 90s with a good curveball and potential for a solid changeup, according to his scouting report.
