There will be no starting goalie controversy in Minnesota now that Cam Talbot has been traded to the Ottawa Senators.

The Minnesota Wild confirmed that Talbot was traded to the Senators Tuesday in exchange for goalie Filip Gustavsson, who was the 55th overall pick (second round) in the 2016 NHL Draft. The 24-year-old has a .905 saves percentage and 3.12 goals-against average in 27 games (23 starts) in two seasons with the Senators.

More importantly, Michael Russo says the Wild aren't retaining any salary owed to Talbot. That means Minnesota now has an extra $2.879 million – for a total of $4.279 million – to work with when NHL free agency opens Wednesday.
