Paul Finebaum reacts after Nick Saban's comments regarding Texas A&M

When you're around SEC football your whole life, nothing really surprises you. But the war between Jimbo Fisher and Nick Saban has Paul Finebaum stunned.

Saban went on the offensive this week, accusing Texas A&M of having "bought every player on their team" during the Aggies' historic 2022 recruiting efforts.

Saban going "way off script" surprised Finebaum.

“I am gobsmacked by what he said,” Finebaum said.

“Not because I haven’t heard him insinuate that privately, but for Nick Saban, the greatest coach of all time, to go public and accuse one of his biggest rivals of essentially cheating (although that’s open for interpretation), is really stunning.

“He’s insinuated this in the past, but one thing you have to remember about Nick Saban, he always is complimentary toward everyone else, even when you know it’s passive-aggressive.

“This was way off script. He’s been leading toward this for some time. But that volcano erupted.”

Fisher called a press conference just to respond to Saban's allegations, going on an all-time rant against the Alabama coach, insinuating that Saban hasn't always played by the rules and saying he didn't answer Saban's phone calls.

"We're done," Fisher said of his relationship with the Bama coach.

Things are getting very heated right before the SEC football coaches meetings in Destin and may not cool down before the Aggies and Crimson Tide meet on the field on Oct. 8.
