Even a down season can have incredible moments.

Such was the case on Saturday night as the Kansas City Royals took on the Milwaukee Brewers in Milwaukee.

The Royals entered the game at an American League Central-worst 12-28, but pitcher Zack Greinke joined a very exclusive club in baseball history in his start.

By striking out outfielder Joey Wiemer, Greinke became the fifth pitcher in baseball history to strike out 1,000 different hitters. He joined Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux and Roger Clemens in the club.

You can see the highlight below, which was Tweeted out by DraftKings.

Nevermind the fact that that pitch was high and was probably not a strike.... who wants to be the umpire to stand in the way of history? Also, nevermind that DraftKings spelled Greinke's name wrong....we'll forgive them for that.

It's another step in a distinguished career for Greinke. The 39-year-old entered the day with 224 career wins and a lifetime ERA of 3.45.

He's in his 20th year in the majors, having now spent part of nine seasons with the Royals, four with the Diamondbacks, four with the Dodgers, three with the Astros, two with the Brewers and one with the Angels.

Greinke is a six-time All-Star selection, a six-time Gold Glover, and a Cy Young winner (2009) who has received Cy Young votes in five different seasons.

This season, Greinke is 1-4 with a 5.01 ERA in 46.2 innings. At the time of this posting, the Royals and Brewers are tied at 3-3.

The two teams will finish up the series Sunday at 2:10 p.m. ET.
