Seattle Mariners reliever Matt Brash is making a run at the nastiest strikeout of the entire season on Opening Night...

Pitching the top of the seventh inning on Opening Night against the Cleveland Guardians, Brash made Guardians perennial all-star José Ramírez look silly.

Brash has some of the nastiest stuff in all of baseball and spent the winter working out at Driveline trying to figure out how to get even nastier.

If this slider is any indication, it seems to have worked.

Brash began the 2022 season in the Mariners starting rotation but struggled so badly that he was sent to AAA. He was recalled later in the season, serving as a reliever and finished the year 4-4 with a 4.44 ERA.

This year, there was talk of Brash going back to a starting role, but he wanted to pitch for Team Canada in the World Baseball Classic, so since he couldn't get stretched out as a starter, he will work exclusively as a reliever.

With pitches like this, Brash should be a fun cog in manager Scott Servais's bullpen. He joins the likes of Paul Sewald, Diego Castillo and Andrés Muñoz in the pen for a Mariners team that is looking to get back to the playoffs this season.

Brash finished his appearance on Opening Night with two strikeouts and one hit allowed.
