Nets Give Update On Ben Simmons' Status For Remainder Of Season

Ben Simmons was recently diagnosed with a nerve impingement in his back, leaving his status for the remainder of the season in doubt.

Ben Simmons has not been available for the Brooklyn Nets since February 15 due to knee and back injuries and now, his status for the remainder of the 2022-23 season is in doubt.

On Friday, the Nets released a statement on Simmons' health.

Brooklyn Nets: "Ben Simmons has been diagnosed with a nerve impingement in his back after a reevaluation earlier today. He will remain out of action while we determine the best long-term course of treatment."

Coming to Brooklyn in the trade that sent James Harden to the Philadelphia 76ers, Simmons has played in just 42 games for the Nets, all of which have been this season.

Health has been a major concern for Ben Simmons over the years and now, his future with the Nets is very much in doubt, as it appears he will not be returning this year.

Entering the offseason, Simmons will have two more years left on his contract valued at about $78 million.

Just last week, Ben Simmons decided to part ways with Klutch Sports Group, who has represented him since entering the NBA. This has led many to believe that Simmons and his new representation will be looking for a fresh start somewhere other than Brooklyn.

Playing in five of the seven seasons he has been in the NBA, Simmons has averaged 14.7 points, 7.8 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game over the course of his career.

This season though with the Nets, Simmons has only averaged 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game.
