UPDATE: Dennis Schroder is available to return.

On Tuesday evening, the Los Angeles Lakers are hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves in California for the play-in tournament.

During the game, veteran point guard Dennis Schroder exited due to an ankle injury.

Via Michael Corvo of ClutchPoints: "Dennis Schroder limped to the Lakers bench but has not gone back to the locker room yet"

The game is now at halftime (the Timberwolves lead 60-49), and there is no word from the team if Schroder will be able to return.

He finished the regular season with productive averages of 12.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest in 66 games.

The 29-year-old was the starting point guard for the Lakers during the 2020-21 season, but played for the Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets last season.

Over the offseason, he returned to the Lakers as a free agent, and has been among their most important bench players.

The good news is the fact that he did not go to the locker room and stayed on the bench.

Via ESPN's Dave McMenamin: "Dennis Schroder appeared to tweak his left foot and called for a sub. Austin Reaves is back in for him. Schroder is being looked at on the bench by the Lakers training staff."

As for the Lakers, they finished the season as the seventh seed and had a 43-39 record.

They went 8-2 over their final ten games and are 23-18 in the 41 games they have hosted on their home floor in Los Angeles, California.

Last year, the team went 33-49 and missed the playoffs (and play-in tournament).

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves are the eighth seed with a 42-40 record.
