Los Angeles Lakers Center Out For Remainder Of Regular Season

Los Angeles Lakers center Mo Bamba has been diagnosed with a high left ankle sprain and will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

The Los Angeles Lakers make a ton of big moves to upgrade their roster ahead of the trade deadline, one of which was acquiring big man Mo Bamba from the Orlando Magic in what turned out to be a four-team trade.

Bamba, the sixth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, suffered an ankle injury on March 5 though and on Thursday afternoon, the team announced that has been diagnosed with a high left ankle sprain.

Los Angeles Lakers: "Mo Bamba has been evaluated by Lakers team doctors and has been diagnosed with a high left ankle sprain. He will be re-evaluated in approximately four weeks."

As a result of missing the next four weeks, Bamba will be out for the remainder of the 2022-23 season, as the Lakers final game will be on April 9 at home against the Utah Jazz.

Playing in seven games for the Lakers, Bamba averaged 4.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting 41.7 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent from three-point range.

Trading Thomas Bryant away, Los Angeles is now thin once again in their frontcourt, as Wenyen Gabriel and Jarred Vanderbilt will likely see their minutes increase alongside and behind Anthony Davis.

The Lakers are also without superstar LeBron James right now as well, as James continues to deal with a right foot injury that the team has given no updates on. LeBron is expected to be re-evaluated before the end of March.

Currently 32-34 on the season, the Los Angeles Lakers have won seven of their last ten games and are now the 9-seed in the Western Conference, just 1.5 games back of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks for the 7-seed and 8-seed in the conference.
