Latest Updates Surrounding Paul George's Knee Injury

Still sidelined due to a right knee sprain, Paul George’s status for the Los Angeles Clippers’ first-round playoff series against the Phoenix Suns remains a question mark.

Paul George was the Los Angeles Clippers’ lone All-Star this season and he has consistently been one of the better two-way players in the entire league for years.

The Clippers are a much better player with him on the floor and when he is playing with Kawhi Leonard, Los Angeles is a real title threat in the Western Conference. However, these two have barely played with one another when it matters most due to injuries and once again, the Clippers’ overall potential is being limited this season because of George’s latest knee injury.

Out since March 21 due to a right knee sprain, Paul George is continuing his rehab to try and get back out on the floor, but his chances of returning late in this first-round series against the Phoenix Suns is still very up-in-the-air.

It is possible that George misses this entire series against the Suns, but on a recent episode of his Podcast P Show, Paul George talked about how he is doing everything he can to get back out on the floor.

“See y'all Game 3, I'm back! Nah, I'm just playing,” George said on his podcast recently. “I'm working my ass off. I'm trying to get back to Clipper Nation. I'm trying to get back there to support my guys and be there in the trenches with them. Literally working every day… I’m working, I’m training my ass off, I’m in the best shape right now. So when that time comes, I will be back with the troops and try to go get this trophy.”

This is definitely a positive update from George himself on his progress, but at the same time, there is still no clear timetable on when Clippers fans should expect their star to be back.

Recently, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Paul George is likely to miss the Clippers' entire opening-round Western Conference playoff series against the Phoenix Suns despite the progress he has been making over the weeks.

At this point, it really does seem like George is in the final few steps of recovery and getting back out there with his teammates on the floor. However, time is a factor right now and there is no telling how his body will heal over this next week or so.

This series between Los Angeles and Phoenix is guaranteed to go at least five games, meaning that these two teams will play through Tuesday, April 25 at the least. Game 6 is tentatively scheduled for Thursday April 27 and Game 7 would take place on Saturday, April 29 if needed.

The Clippers are being careful with George’s knee as he continues to work his way back and with this series already underway, it seems reasonable to lean more towards the side that Paul George will not return rather than him potentially coming back for Game 6 or Game 7.

Then again, you just never know and if Paul George feels good and is not limited over the next few days, he could very well return at a critical time in this series.
