Disappointing Zion Williamson Injury Update

The New Orleans Pelicans have announced an injury update on NBA All-Star Zion Williamson. The former Duke Men's Basketball star last played on January 2.

Zion Williamson had been in the middle of a fantastic season with averages of 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists per contest (he was named to his second career All-Star Game) before getting injured (hamstring)

The former Duke superstar has been out since January 2.

On Thursday, the team announced an update on their best player.

Via The Pelicans: "Zion Williamson was recently re-evaluated for his right hamstring strain. Medical imaging revealed that Williamson’s hamstring continues to heal. His next examination will take place in approximately two weeks."

When Williamson has been on the floor, he has been fantastic.

That said, the 22-year-old has struggled with injuries since coming into the league.

He missed the entire 2021-22 season and has already been out for 37 games this season.

His career averages are an outstanding 25.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists per contest in 114 regular season games.

Last season, the Pelicans were able to make the first round of the NBA Playoffs (without him).

Therefore, if he can get healthy, there is a chance for them to be a contender this season.

Right now, they are tied with the Los Angeles Lakers for the ninth seed in the Western Conference.

The Pelicans have gone 32-34 in 66 games and are 3-7 in their last ten.

Outside of New Orleans, they are 11-23 in 34 games, while they are a very impressive 21-11 in 32 games at home.

On Saturday night, the Pelicans will play their next game when they host the Oklahoma City Thunder.
