On Thursday evening, the Brooklyn Nets are in Oregon facing off with the Portland Trail Blazers.

During the game, 12-time All-Star Kevin Durant made NBA history.

In the third quarter, he hit a fade-away jump shot that has made him the 19th player in the history of the NBA to score 26,000 career points.

Durant ranks 19th on the all-time scoring list, and he recently passed Vince Carter earlier this season.

He is also less than 70 points away from passing Kevin Garnett for the 18th spot.

Even more impressive, Carter played 1,541 regular season games, Garnett played 1,462, while Durant has only played 955.

He has been one of the most consistent scorers the game has ever seen and will keep moving higher on the list as the season progresses.

Outside of his rookie season, he has never averaged less than 25.1 points per contest.

To start the 2022-23 season, he has been sensational with averages of 30.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.9 blocks per contest (on 52.2% shooting).

In addition, he has scored at least 25 points in every single game so far this season.

Unfortunately, the Nets have yet to play well despite Durant's brilliance.

The team entered the night with a 6-9 record in their first 15 games, and they are in the middle of a two-game losing streak (after losing back-to-back games to the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings).

Before joining the Nets in the summer of 2019, Durant made the NBA Finals three times in a row with the Golden State Warriors and won two NBA Championships (and two Finals MVPs).
